A 20-year-old motorcyclist is facing multiple charges after Arkansas State Police say he fled from a traffic stop at speeds reaching 148 MPH before crashing in Oklahoma. On September 25, 2026, around 10:14 p.m., Trooper Tanner Mathis was traveling southbound on Interstate 540 near mile marker 13 when he reportedly observed three motorcycles believed to be racing. According to the report, one motorcycle used the right shoulder to pass another vehicle, while several sports cars were allegedly traveling alongside the motorcycles. The trooper attempted to stop the lead motorcycle near the 14-mile marker after noticing it did not have a license plate. However, the rider, identified as Zeth Cameron Golay, allegedly refused to stop and accelerated away, reaching an estimated 140 MPH in a posted 65 MPH zone before crossing into Oklahoma. The pursuit continued along U.S. Highway 271, where radar confirmed the motorcycle reached 148 MPH. Authorities say the chase passed through Pocola and Spiro, with Golay allegedly passing vehicles on the shoulder, ignoring commands to stop and driving through residential yards and private driveways. At approximately 10:26 p.m., the pursuit came to an end on County Road E 1235 when Golay reportedly failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into a tree line. Troopers identified Golay as the driver and found him complaining of left wrist pain. He was transported to a hospital for treatment before being taken to the Leflore County Jail. According to the report, Golay told the trooper he fled because he had pending traffic citations and feared losing his driver's license. Golay is facing multiple requested charges, including felony fleeing, reckless driving, racing on a public highway, failure to register a vehicle, failure to display a license plate and improper passing on the right. #Arkansas #PolicePursuit #LRHN
