On July 19, 2024, officers from the Waukegan Police Department's Gang Suppression Unit were on patrol when they spotted a white 1979 Chevrolet Malibu speeding with no front license plate and no rear registration lighting. What started as a routine traffic stop quickly escalated. The driver became argumentative from the moment officers made contact, and the situation turned physical when officers attempted to conduct a questionable search. Multiple detectives were involved in the struggle as the suspect actively resisted being taken into custody. Perpetrator has a criminal history and was charged with aggravated battery for discharging a firearm, and reckless discharge of a firearm back in 2020 and served 160 days in jail and 200 hours of public service prior to this arrest.
