Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: Around 12:14 AM on August 3, 2023, Sergeant Thomas Hayes saw a woman shouting from a red Jeep near Ocean Avenue and Elizabeth Avenue. He followed as the Jeep swerved and made a turn without signaling. Hayes pulled it over in front of Spicy's Taco & Tequila Bar. The driver, 26-year-old Carly, spoke with Hayes. He smelled alcohol and noticed other signs of impairment. Additional officers arrived, and Carly was told to step out. She then took several field sobriety tests. She began by reciting the alphabet before trying the One Leg Stand. Carly could not raise her foot properly and put it down too early. During the Walk and Turn, she failed to keep her feet heel-to-toe, turned incorrectly, and took too many steps. Hayes also gave her the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Her eyes failed to track smoothly, twitched at the farthest point, and began twitching before reaching 45 degrees. Carly was arrested for drunk driving after her poor driving, the smell of alcohol, and her failed sobriety tests. Her vehicle was impounded for 12 hours, and Officer Biondi took her to the police station. There, Carly heard the Standard Statement and agreed to a breath test. The test showed a BAC of 0.17%, more than twice the legal limit. After processing, her father signed a form, and Carly was released to her parents. Her court date remained pending. Sergeant Hayes cited her for driving under the influence, reckless driving, traffic on marked lanes, and failing to signal. Court records show that Carly pleaded guilty on February 27, 2024. She admitted driving under the influence and received a three-month license suspension, 12 hours at an alcohol center, and two days in jail. She also paid $640 in fines.
