On January 22nd, 2025, officers responded to a report of suspected bank fraud after a woman attempted to cash a check totaling over $5,100. Bank staff became suspicious when inconsistencies were discovered between the company name on the check and the information provided by the woman attempting to cash it. According to the report, the woman claimed the check came from a work-from-home job she found online and stated she had interviewed through a video call. However, she was unable to provide basic employment details, such as her supervisor’s name, proof of employment, or supporting documentation. Further investigation revealed the business listed on the check did not recognize her as an employee and confirmed the check was fraudulent. Officers took possession of the check as evidence and advised the woman of her rights. She was arrested for Deceptive Practices involving a fraudulent check, booked, and later released with a notice to appear in court. This video shows the responding officers’ body-worn camera footage and documents the investigation from first contact through arrest and booking. All information is taken directly from the official incident report.
