On December 21, 2023, a Florida Highway Patrol officer observed a BMW traveling at approximately 145 miles per hour on an interstate in Fort Myers, Florida. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver began to flee from the officer. After exiting onto state road 82, a high speed PIT maneuver was attempted. This PIT maneuver put the officer's vehicle into a ditch. The suspect, later identified as 21 year old Cecilia Hoffman, was taken into custody and charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement with lights and sirens active, driving under the influence, reckless driving, and resisting an officer without violence. Her bond was set at $20,000.
