On 1/2/2024, officers were doing routine patrol in car 23. Officers pulled behind a pickup truck traveling Eastbound on Maple Street and ran its license plate. The license plate came back expired. The person who owned the truck was deceased. Officers performed a traffic stop at Maple/Bittman. Officers made contact with the occupants. When asked for his driver's license, the driver, informed officers that his license was in his left back pocket and that he had two firearms and a knife located on his belt. Officers asked the Driver to get out of the vehicle and detained him for officer safety. The Driver was compliant and understood. The firearms and knife were removed without incident. He was run through OHLEG and was not weapons under; the firearms were run through leads and were not stolen. When asked about the license plate, the Driver stated that he had bought the truck from another person before he died and did not know that the tags were expired. The passenger was run through leads and found to have a WOF( Theft 23-08261). When officers went to arrest the passenger, he failed to comply with lawful orders and fought with officers when they tried to arrest him. He was taken to the ground and placed under arrest.
