A 2019 Volkswagen Jetta had slammed into trouble. He pulled up and saw folks helping the driver out of the wreck. The car looked beat up bad, with airbags popped open. The driver turned out to be Caroline. As Demeter and his team talked to her, signs of being drunk jumped out. Caroline admitted she blacked out right before the smash. She blamed the icy roads too. Medics showed up to check her over, but she waved off more help. Suspecting booze behind the wheel, the cops asked her to do sobriety tests. She said no. So they cuffed her for DUI. Once in custody, they towed her car for a 12-hour hold under John's Law. Demeter drove her back to the station for booking. There, they read her the standard rights for drivers. She agreed to blow into the breath machine. The Alcotest clocked her at 0.167% blood alcohol—twice the 0.08% limit. They let her go to a sober friend after he signed the liability form for her court date. She got tickets for drunk driving and reckless operation. Court papers show that on April 9, 2024, Caroline copped a plea to the DUI charge. They dropped reckless to careless driving. For her guilty call, she spent 12 hours in a drunk driver class, hooked up an ignition lock for five months, and shelled out $640 in fines. The careless ticket got tossed in the deal.
