On June 16, 2025, deputies responded to a disturbance call outside a Publix that quickly turned into a theft investigation. After reports of stolen merchandise from a nearby 7-Eleven, officers questioned 75-year-old Ernest Newsom. As the investigation unfolded, his story allegedly changed multiple times, leading deputies to establish probable cause for an arrest. Bodycam footage captures the tense encounter as the suspect argues with officers, complains about his health, accuses the deputy of racism, and repeatedly asks why he's being arrested. Watch the full incident unfold from initial contact to transport.
