It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: At approximately 2:58 PM on October 31, 2024, Patrolwoman Tina Pothos from the Edgewater Police Department responded to a crash on Route 5 near Undercliff Road. She saw a blue 2009 Nissan Altima that had hit a large boulder head-on and had heavy front-end damage. She quickly approached the driver, who was later identified as Ashley. Patrolwoman Pothos gave Ashley oxygen, and Ashley admitted she had been drinking alcohol before driving. Patrolman Evan Bringas and Patrolwoman Gillian Cabrera arrived to help shortly after. During this time, Ashley became uncooperative and told the officers she was on her way to pick up her kids from school. She also said she wanted to take her children trick-or-treating. Because of her injuries, officers did not perform field sobriety tests. Once first responders arrived, Ashley was placed in an ambulance. Patrolwoman Cabrera rode with her to Englewood Hospital for help. At the hospital, detectives and Cabrera asked Ashley to give a blood sample, but she refused. However, hospital staff had already taken her blood for medical reasons and told the officers they would test it for alcohol. Ashley was then transferred to Hackensack Medical Center for more care. Since she refused to give a blood sample herself, officers headed back to police headquarters to get a court order for her blood test results.
