On August 29, 2024, Roswell Police Officer Morales observed a construction vehicle towing a trailer that had a flat tire. Officer Morales initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 36-year-old woman. Because of the woman's unusual behavior, Officer Morales asked the woman if she had been drinking. She admitted to consuming a shot while driving the construction vehicle just minutes before being stopped. She was then asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, where she attempted to control the tests by being overly demanding and argumentative. The tests were stopped and the woman was placed under arrest. At the police station, she refused to submit to an evidential breath test.
