A stolen truck pursuit in Pierce County turned dangerous fast. Deputies said they spotted the vehicle minutes after it was reported stolen, but when they tried to stop it, the driver kept going and took the chase onto I-5 South. Then the passenger allegedly did something deputies almost never see. He started throwing a chainsaw and rope-type items out the window, apparently trying to disable or crash the patrol vehicles behind them. The chase ended near the JBLM Logistics Gate when the truck got stuck and both suspects ran. Deputies set up containment, launched a K-9 track, and later found the 31-year-old passenger. The 28-year-old driver was later located by military police. The passenger was expected to face charges including possessing motor vehicle theft tools, eluding, and first-degree assault toward deputies.
