*HAPPY TACO TUESDAY 🌮🌮!* On 12/03/2025 at approximately 1556 hours, I was dispatched to 4188 E McCain Blvd (Dick's Sporting Goods) in reference to a shoplifting in progress. While en-route, dispatch advised that the males who had stolen merchandise had walked out of the store and gotten into a white vehicle with paper tags. Ofc. Wilkerson arrived on scene and located the vehicle (see supplement for further). Ofc. Wilkerson advised that the vehicle was fleeing from him and they had merged onto I-57 N from E McCain Blvd. I activated my emergency equipment in order to catch up to Ofc. Wilkerson and assist him with the pursuit. While travelling north bound on I-57 N Ofc. Wilkerson advised that the vehicle had taken the Trammel Rd exit and they began travelling east bound on Trammel Rd. I proceeded to take the exit as well and had to drive over the curb/median at the intersection of I-57 N and Trammel in order to catch up to Ofc. Wilkerson. Once I was able to catch up to his location at Bakers Acres Rd I assisted him in providing updates to dispatch while he continued pursuing the fleeing vehicle. We continued north bound on Hwy 161 for approximately 2 miles until we reached the I-440 and Hwy 161 on ramp where the fleeing vehicle wrecked out. Once there, the driver (Toombs) exited the vehicle and fled from officers on foot.  Toombs ran towards I-440 where he ran across all lanes of traffic in order to get to the east side of the interstate where he hid in the wood line. A perimeter was established and Toombs was located shortly thereafter with the assistance of other agencies. Ofc. Parson assisted in conducting an inventory search of the vehicle . During the search, Ofc. Parsons located the stolen merchandise belonging to Dick's Sporting Goods (see supplement), along with two firearms. I took possession of all the stolen merchandise and transported it back to the store in order to return it and gather the total monetary amount stolen. I made contact with David Waterson (store manager) who took custody of all the stolen merchandise. He was able to ring up the merchandise and it yielded a total of $1615.91. Waterson also provided me with footage from the store's security camera's showing Toombs and another unknown male leaving the store with the stolen merchandise. The video was burned onto a disk and stored in the NLRPD Property Room. Once I had gathered all of the information needed from Dick's sporting Goods, I assisted Ofc. Wilkerson at Baptist Springhill. I stood by with Toombs while he was medically assessed by medical personnel. Once he was medically cleared, Ofc. Wilkerson took custody of Toombs once more and transported him to PCRDF. I took custody of the located Firearms (black Diamondback DB15 .223 caliber serial / black Glock 21 .45 caliber serial ) and stored them in the NLRPD Property Room along with the Firearm's Screening Reports. Both firearms were located with one round chambered with their respective ammunition. The handgun (black Glock 21 .45 caliber serial that was located inside the vehicle was located in the passenger floorboard of the vehicle. The firearm was readily available for use with a purpose to attempt to unlawfully employ by Toombs as he was occupying and operating the vehicle. The vehicle used to facilitate the aforementioned crimes did not belong to Toombs. When asked who the vehicle belonged to, he stated that it belonged to his mother. However, while on scene Toombs' family arrived due to him contacting them while he was fleeing. When explained why Toombs was under arrest, they claimed to not know anything about the vehicle and stated that it did not belong to any of them. A search through ACIC/NCIC (victim). I attempted to make contact with her, however I was met with negative results. The vehicle as impounded by J-Hook towing once Ofc. Parsons completed an inventory of the vehicle. The recovered stolen firearm (black Glock 21 .45 caliber serial from Little Rock Police Department was removed from ACIC/NCIC as stolen by LRPD Operator K at 1717 hours. . The victim's information was retrieved from LRPD and added to this report.
