Suspect: Matthew Karsten Date: September 22, 2023 Department: Flagler County Sheriff's Office On Friday, September 22, 2023, Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies were searching for Matthew Karsten, 43, after he allegedly battered a family member earlier in the day. Around 10:20 p.m. deputies reportedly spotted Karsten driving on Old Kings Road and swerving in and out of his lane. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Karsten. During the stop, it was noted that he appeared to have problems following instructions and stepping out of his vehicle. The deputies observed signs of intoxication and performed field sobriety tests. Flagler County's Sheriff Staly later said “This guy made it too easy for us. Catching him drunk was easy, but he put others at risk on the road.”
