At just before 9:30 pm Evansville Police officers were dispatched to a person with a gun run near Read St. and Louisiana St. The caller reported that a black male subject wearing Ravens football jersey was armed with a handgun and had pointed it at someone. This run was after two previous runs to the same area: one for reckless driving and another for disorderly conduct where a male had threatened the caller. The first officer on scene encountered a large crowd yelling and arguing in the street. Due to the nature of the run, the officers on scene had their firearms drawn. One of subjects in the street was wearing a football jersey. This subject was confronted verbally and given commands to get on the ground. As can be seen in the body camera footage, a female involved walked in front of the male subject as he walked toward officers. The female refused to obey commands from officers on scene. While officers were attempting to detain the male in the football jersey, the crowd approached from both sides, yelling and cursing at officers. An officer attempted to detain a male subject on the sidewalk. The male pulled away and tried to walk away from officers. Officers took the male to the ground as he continued to resist. As officers were trying to take the male into custody, the crowd surrounded officers and continued to yell and push officers. 2 people ere arrested after police The male subject was transported to vanderburgh county jail and name JAKOBI DAISEAN HIGGS age 18 old charged with 35-44.1-3-1(a (1)/MA: Resisting Law Enforcmnt: def. knowingly/intentionally forcibly resist/obstruct Vanderburgh Cash Bond - $85.00 09/05/2025 Order Issuing Warrant for Arrest DEFT FAILS TO APPEAR FOR INITIAL HEARING AFTER HAVING POSTED BOND.
