On May 25, 2024, University of Cincinnati Police Officers responded to a fight in progress at the Buffalo Wild Wings. When the first officers arrived, the people involved in the fight had made their way outside. As officers were gathering information, a 20-year-old woman obstructed the detention of other people by stepping in between them and officers. She was placed under arrest and while she was being escorted to a police vehicle, she slipped one of her hands out of the handcuffs and was subsequently taken down to the ground. There is extensive footage from a police interview room where the woman simultaneously placed the victim and the race card. Because there was a belief that she had an open felony warrant, she was transported to the justice center and held until her arraignment. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
