This video covers the arrest of Ricky Dean Miller, a 67-year-old man taken into custody in Woodland after a shocking investigation by the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to a call from a family member who reported that Miller had confessed to killing someone and said the body was hidden on his property. After arriving at the scene on Old Lewis River Road, investigators obtained a search warrant and began examining the property. During the search, they discovered human remains inside a barrel, later identified as 71-year-old Dennis Eugene Schmitt. Authorities determined that Schmitt was living on the property as Miller’s tenant. An autopsy later revealed that Schmitt died from blunt-force injuries and strangulation. Miller was taken into custody at the scene and later booked into the Cowlitz County Jail on charges of second-degree murder and unlawful disposal of human remains.
