Police chase bodycam from Sacramento County: a domestic violence suspect flees a traffic stop, leads deputies onto eastbound Interstate 80, stops his car facing the pursuing patrol units and refuses every command — then points a handgun at the deputies. This police chase bodycam release from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office (July 5, 2026) includes body cam footage from five deputies, in-car dashcam of the pursuit, and the sheriff's office briefing on the officer involved shooting. WHAT HAPPENED Around 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026, 911 callers in the 2200 block of Zinfandel Drive in Rancho Cordova reported a woman going door to door screaming for help. She told deputies she had escaped her ex-husband after three days of beatings and that he was armed. Deputies put out a BOLO for her missing car. A plate reader flagged the vehicle on Fair Oaks Boulevard near Kenneth Avenue; the driver, William Mattias Kreuzer, 38, of Rancho Cordova, fled when deputies tried to stop him. The pursuit ran through Carmichael and Arden Arcade, onto the Capital City Freeway and then eastbound I-80. Near the Antelope Road truck scales he slowed, turned the car around and stopped facing the deputies. For roughly a minute he ignored commands to show his hands and get out. When he pointed a firearm at the deputies, five of them fired. Kreuzer was pronounced dead at the scene. A handgun was recovered from inside the car. No deputies were injured. The investigation is being conducted by the California Highway Patrol, the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau, the Professional Standards Division and the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office.
