On September 11, 2026, an Arkansas State Police traffic stop on U.S. Highway 63 near Interstate 40 quickly turned into a high-speed pursuit after a Kentucky couple allegedly fled from a trooper. Trooper Rafael Garcia stopped a silver Ford Focus after observing a defective brake light. During the stop, the passenger allegedly provided multiple false names, and troopers worked to determine his identity. As Trooper Garcia approached the passenger side to assist with identification, the driver allegedly put the vehicle in drive and took off onto westbound I-40. The pursuit quickly escalated, with the vehicle reportedly weaving through traffic, passing on the shoulder and reaching speeds of **more than 100 MPH** in a 75 MPH zone. Once traffic cleared, Trooper Garcia performed a **Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI)**, causing the Ford Focus to spin before both vehicles entered the median. The vehicle became stuck, and troopers conducted a high-risk felony takedown, taking both occupants into custody. The driver faces charges including **Fleeing, Reckless Driving, Improper Lane Usage, Driving on a Suspended License, and Defective/Improper Tail Lamps and Reflectors.** The passenger was booked for **Obstruction of Government Operations**.
