On April 10, 2025, Pullman Police Officers Shellabarger and Anderson responded to the Walmart, where loss prevention personnel were detaining a 20-year-old woman accused of shoplifting $317.64 worth of items, including alcohol. The woman claimed she had no money for the items and was attempting to make a "fresh start" after relocating to Pullman from Michigan. She was cited for theft (3rd degree) and minor in possession of alcohol. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
