Alliance Man Faces Multiple Charges Including Attempted Kidnapping and Drug Possession ALLIANCE, Ohio — Joshua Freyermuth, 39, has been charged with attempted kidnapping, aggravated drug possession, and obstructing official business following a series of incidents over the weekend. Freyermuth appeared in Alliance Municipal Court on Monday, facing two felony counts of attempted kidnapping and aggravated drug possession, as well as a misdemeanor charge for obstructing official business. He did not enter a plea for the felony charges, and his bond was set at $100,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 30. According to police reports, the incident began on Sunday morning around 9 a.m. when Freyermuth allegedly approached an 11-year-old boy at the boy's residence, claiming, "I need to talk to you." When the child refused to cooperate, Freyermuth reportedly tried to physically grab him. However, his attempt failed due to the presence of the family dog, and he fled the scene on foot. Later that day, a warrant for Freyermuth's arrest was issued by a judge, and he was apprehended by police at a residence in Columbiana County around 5:50 p.m. Previous Arrest Freyermuth had another run-in with law enforcement just days earlier. On Friday, Alliance police were called to investigate a suspicious vehicle near the 500 block of South Mechanic Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing Freyermuth driving in circles and allegedly attempting to speak to children in the area. Officers conducted a traffic stop and, during the investigation, discovered approximately 1.6 grams of methamphetamine hidden in the steering wheel of Freyermuth’s van. Additionally, a glass pipe containing meth residue was found beneath the driver’s seat. Police claim that while being questioned, Freyermuth gave conflicting statements and deliberately provided false information to hinder the investigation. He was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, obstructing official business, and possession of drug paraphernalia. After being booked into the Alliance City Jail, Freyermuth was released on his own recognizance, with a court appearance scheduled for this week. Freyermuth now faces additional charges as he awaits his next hearing.
