On February 27, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officer Roskos observed a vehicle commit several traffic violations. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 38-year-old woman. She admitted to consuming a glass of wine earlier in the evening. As a result, she was asked to step out of her vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Due to some pre-existing physical impairments, she was unable to perform the walk and turn and one leg stand test. Officer Roskos administered some alternative tests, which included counting backwards and reciting part of the English alphabet. The woman did poorly on these tests and was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence (DWI). It was later revealed that she had been arrested for DWI less than 6 months prior. At the police station, she submitted to an evidential breath test and the results were 0.18% and 0.17% BAC. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
