A 27-year-old woman from Tucson, Arizona, is facing two felony charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers discovered cocaine during a traffic stop in Madison County. On March 22, 2024, around 1:30 p.m., troopers pulled over a rented box truck traveling east on Interstate 70 for multiple violations, including an unsafe lane change, tailgating, and failure to use headlights in the rain. The truck had out-of-state registration. During the interaction with the driver, identified as Andrea I. Celaya Rodriguez, troopers noticed her exhibiting nervous behavior, providing an unusual travel story, and observed suspicious items in the truck. A drug-sniffing canine alerted to the presence of drugs, leading to the discovery of 110 pounds of cocaine, packaged in 50 individual packages, valued at approximately $1.75 million. Rodriguez was taken into custody and is currently held at the Franklin County Jail. She faces charges of trafficking and possession of drugs, both of which are first-degree felonies. If convicted, she could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison and fined up to $50,000.
