On February 26, 2025, in Palm Beach County, deputies responded after neighbors found a young child wandering alone in the street. Officers located the child’s home and discovered the mother in a visibly impaired state, with signs of intoxication and an unexplained injury, while she was unable to clearly account for how long the child had been missing or how he escaped the apartment. The child, described as nonverbal and in a dirty diaper, had been cared for by a neighbor before police arrived. After determining the mother was not in a condition to safely care for her son, deputies arrested her and ensured the child was placed with a responsible adult. The mother was charged with neglect and now faces up to five years in prison, five years of probation, and a $5,000 fine if convicted... here's the full bodycam from the officers who responded.
