Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At 2:08 a.m. on September 14, 2024, Sergeant Joseph Barnicle of the Shrewsbury Police saw a 2008 Dodge heading south on Broad Street without its headlights on. He stopped it near Obre Place and went to speak with the driver, 22-year-old Carly. As they talked, Barnicle smelled alcohol and noticed signs of impairment. Carly gave him her papers, and he called Patrolman Boehler to assist. He asked her to get out of the car, then had her try field sobriety tests. During the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, her eyes did not track smoothly. They jerked at the far end of her gaze, and the movement began before 45 degrees. On the Walk and Turn, she missed heel-to-toe steps and made an improper turn. She also struggled with the One Leg Stand, lowering her foot too soon. The odor of alcohol and her performance led Barnicle to arrest her for drunk driving. Officers impounded the car for 12 hours under John's Law, then took Carly to the station. She was read the standard rights given to drivers and agreed to a breath test. The result was 0.25% blood alcohol, more than three times the 0.08% limit. Officers released her to a sober friend, who signed the liability warning for her.
