Charlotte County Sheriff's Office deputies entered a homeless camp near Englewood Hospital in February 2025 while assisting a bondsman searching for a wanted woman. They never found her. Instead, they encountered Brian Berk, ran his name, and discovered an active warrant. Berk fled on foot. Deputies caught him and took him to the ground using hands-on force and a Taser. What followed became the real story. Four deputies had their appointments withdrawn by Sheriff Bill Prummell and a fifth was reprimanded -- not over the force used during the arrest, but over what came after. An Internal Affairs investigation found deputies failed to activate their body-worn cameras, mislabeled footage as "false activations," and did not file the required show-of-force reports. This is the body-worn camera footage and Internal Affairs record from that night. Footage obtained via public records request. bodycamzero.com #bodycam #charlottecounty #internalaffairs #policeaccountability #florida
