Instead, he walked into a trap. On May 23, 2022, Kenneth Clayton arrived at the Travelodge Motel on Old National Highway. He was there to meet a woman named “Malissa” — someone he’d been texting with. After about 20 minutes of waiting in the parking lot, she finally texted him the room number: Room 142. When he got to the door, she let him in. Everything seemed cool. They talked. Smoked. Shared a few laughs. Then she said she needed to use the bathroom. Seconds later, a masked man walked out — dressed in all black, ski mask on, and holding a black handgun. He told Clayton, “You know what this is. I need everything.” Clayton handed over his phone, jewelry, wallet — nearly $3,000 worth of valuables. But when the suspect looked away, Clayton lunged for the gun. A violent struggle broke out. Bodies slammed into the walls. Furniture flew. A gun went off. And in the middle of it all? Malissa just stood there watching — until she jumped in and started swinging. Clayton broke free and ran out, bloodied and yelling for help. The woman would later be identified as Justice Ford. The gunman? A man known as Titus. Hotel surveillance revealed that the pair had access to two rooms — 142 and 110 — and had been moving between them all morning. Witnesses say they fled in an Uber right after the attack. 🛑 This is Part 1 of the story. The body cam footage picks up after this — when officers prepare to breach Room 110. 🔜 Part 2 Coming Soon… We're currently waiting on additional footage — including backup officer body cam and detective body cam — to continue the story.
