Volusia County, Florida — June 1, 2025: Police conducted a traffic stop after officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and turning in front of traffic. When officers approached, they noticed a handwritten paper license plate displaying “OMW2DMV.” The driver explained that he had recently purchased the vehicle and wrote “On My Way To DMV” on a piece of paper because he did not yet have valid registration. According to officers, the handwritten tag did not match any registration in Florida. The driver was taken into custody in connection with the alleged use of a counterfeit license plate. During the arrest, officers attempted to search the driver. He became physically resistant and repeatedly told officers that he did not want to be “manhandled.” Officers instructed him to stop resisting. The situation escalated when the driver kicked toward officers, with one kick reportedly striking an officer in the leg. Charges listed in the case include: - Attaching a registration/license plate not assigned to the vehicle - Possession of a counterfeit registration license plate - Battery on a law enforcement officer - Resisting an officer with violence Traffic citations included: - Taillamp not functional - Careless driving - Tag attached not registered to the vehicle - Failure to provide proof of insurance This police body camera footage shows the traffic stop, investigation, interaction with officers, and subsequent arrest.
