Around 6:27 PM on April 23, 2022, an officer with Highlands Police Department observed a 2013 BMW driving erratically westbound on Route 36. After turning around to follow, the officer initiated a stop after the BMW turned onto Portland Road and then made additional erratic turns before stopping near Hillside Avenue and Ocean Street. The driver, Mira Osadca (37), showed signs consistent with impairment and was asked to complete standardized field sobriety tests (including HGN, Walk-and-Turn, and One-Leg Stand). Based on the driving behavior, observed indicators, and test performance, she was arrested for DUI and transported for processing. At Monmouth Beach Police Department headquarters, an observation period was conducted. She invoked her rights and later refused a breath test.
