On the morning of October 14, 2025, someone at an apartment complex in St. Petersburg, Florida called police about a man who appeared to be passed out in a parked Rolls-Royce with the driver's door open. The first officer walked up, saw a rifle on the driver's seat, and backed off to wait for more units. What followed was recorded on five St. Petersburg Police body cameras and two in-car cameras. Over the next twenty minutes, 23-year-old Eric James Stallings told officers there was nothing in his car, that they had no right to search it, and that he knew his rights. Then an officer asked him about a container in his trunk. Stallings was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine while armed, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in heroin, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and resisting arrest with violence. Police said he knocked an officer down while trying to get away and that the officer was injured. He has not been convicted of any of those charges. They are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. Two things are a matter of record. On October 17, 2025, the St. Petersburg Police Department filed a civil forfeiture action over the Rolls-Royce, naming the finance company that held the loan on it. On November 3, 2025, a Pinellas County judge entered a final risk protection order under Florida's red flag law, removing his access to firearms. He stipulated to it and waived the hearing. Quantities described in this video are the estimates officers gave out loud on their own body cameras at the scene, not laboratory results. Footage source: St. Petersburg Police Department released body-worn and in-car camera, case 2025-035229. Court information from Pinellas County circuit court filings.
