The pursuit ended near an intersection where the vehicle stopped and multiple occupants fled on foot into nearby yards. Officers quickly moved to contain the area, treating the situation as high risk due to the nature of the offense and the unknown number of suspects involved. Officers located two individuals in a backyard and ordered them to the ground at gunpoint. Both complied immediately, lying prone and showing their hands as instructed. Officers continued issuing commands while searching for a third suspect believed to be nearby. Moments later, a third individual was located and ordered to the ground. All three were secured without physical force beyond verbal commands. As officers maintained control of the scene, the individuals—later determined to be juveniles—began speaking. Several expressed fear, apologized repeatedly, and asked to contact their parents. Officers informed them they were being detained and that parents would be contacted after the situation was stabilized. Officers conducted safety checks and repeatedly asked whether any of the juveniles were armed. No weapons were located. During the detention, officers discovered that the individuals were extremely young, with ages reported as low as eleven and twelve years old. The tone of the encounter shifted as officers acknowledged the suspects’ ages while continuing to ensure scene safety. The juveniles were searched, identified, and monitored until additional units arrived. No shots were fired, no serious injuries occurred, and the incident concluded with all individuals alive and in custody. The matter transitioned from a felony vehicle theft investigation to a juvenile case handled under appropriate procedures.
