Three armed robberies. One desperate attempt to escape police. And a power pole that brought everything to a sudden stop. On January 28, 2026, deputies from the Marion County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Ocala Police Department tracked down a suspect wanted in connection with three armed robberies in Ocala, Florida. Authorities identified the suspect as 55-year-old Clinton Deon Scarlett. According to investigators, Scarlett had allegedly targeted three businesses over two days: - Family Dollar in Marion Oaks - Shoe Station on SW 24th Avenue - Murphy Oil gas station on SW Highway 200 During the robberies, the suspect reportedly threatened employees with a firearm while demanding money. But investigators were closing in. After receiving information about the suspect's vehicle, officers located Scarlett driving through Ocala. When police attempted to pull him over, he refused to stop. What followed was a police pursuit through city streets. As Scarlett attempted to escape, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a power pole near NW 9th Avenue and NW 6th Street. His escape was over. Officers approached the damaged vehicle and took Scarlett into custody without further incident. Authorities reported recovering cocaine and a synthetic cannabinoid during a subsequent search. Scarlett was arrested on multiple charges, including armed robbery, aggravated fleeing, and weapons-related offenses.
