Officers were dispatched to a commercial shopping center after a boutique operations manager reported a theft. Security footage captured an individual removing an expensive necklace from a store mannequin when employees were not looking and exiting without paying. Officers canvassed the mall and intercepted the suspect walking out of a separate department store. A search of the individual's belongings turned up a stolen pair of designer jeans. Following a voluntary vehicle search in the parking deck, police located the missing boutique necklace along with a pair of stolen luxury shoes. The total value of the recovered merchandise was nearly four thousand dollars. Law enforcement processed the suspect on multiple theft charges and returned all merchandise to the local retailers. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
