On May 7th, a Grand Forks police officer initiated a traffic stop after spotting a vehicle speeding 30 mph over the limit. The driver failed to pull over, sparking a high-speed chase across multiple city streets. The suspect, driving a black Chevy pickup, rammed police vehicles twice as officers pursued. Despite officers deploying spike strips and attempting a PIT maneuver, the driver continued to flee until he eventually surrendered. The passenger, who was uninjured, denied any knowledge of illegal activity. The driver, later identified as Martin, was arrested on charges of reckless driving, evading arrest, and property damage. He later admitted to driving without registration or insurance. The suspect remains innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
