On July 13, 2025, the Rio Rancho Police Department conducted a DUI checkpoint. A 30-year-old woman entered the checkpoint and was contacted by Officer Lorenz. The woman admitted that she had consumed alcohol around an hour prior. As a result, she was asked to step out of her vehicle and she was turned over to Officer Salido. Officer Salido administered standardized field sobriety tests on the woman. At the conclusion of the tests, she was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence. She was transported to the Rio Rancho police station, where she agreed to provide breath samples. The results were 0.16% and 0.15% BAC. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
