Cop Fights for his Life at Traffic Stop This shocking video shows a life-or-death struggle of Edmond Police Officer Caleb Hodam, who was ambushed during a routine traffic stop. On May 1, just before 5 p.m., while Hodam was issuing a warning, 22-year-old Ocean Hudson, with no connection to the stop, approached him and said, “I have something to report”. Without warning, Hudson blasted Officer Hodam in the face with pepper spray and pulled a large knife, turning a routine stop into a violent, deliberate attack. The entire violent encounter was captured on the officer’s body camera. Despite being temporarily incapacitated and his bodycam knocked off, it continued recording from the ground, showing Hudson trying to claw at the officer's gun. Even though he was pepper-sprayed, stabbed, and nearly blind, Hodam fought back, managing to pin down the knife in Hudson’s hand while using his other hand to block the suspect from grabbing his firearm. The commotion caught the attention of a passing driver, who bravely jumped in to help, pleading for the violence to stop and eventually prying the knife from Hudson’s grip. Hudson, who had active felony warrants for child pornography and lewd acts and stated, “I’m supposed to be in prison today, but I ain’t doing that,” continued to resist, even spitting in Hodam’s face. Officer Hodam, relying on his training and sheer will, held on until backup arrived, subduing Hudson with a Taser. Officer Hodam was treated and released from the hospital, and the Edmond Police Department has praised his bravery and expressed gratitude to the citizen who intervened and helped to save his life. Hudson now faces several felony charges, including assault and battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault on a police officer, and remains jailed without bond. This intense footage shows an incredible display of resilience and courage in the face of a premeditated ambush.
