A newly hired corrections officer was pulled over for going 100 mph on a 45 mph bridge -- and the speeding stop quickly turned into a DUI arrest, with testing later showing her at more than three times the legal limit. The officer stopped Vanessa Alvarado after clocking her at 100 on the bridge and observing her vehicle weaving across the lane. Alvarado told the officer she had just been hired as a Martin County corrections officer and was "celebrating" being in phase one of her training. The officer reported watery, glossy eyes, the odor of alcohol, and an alcoholic beverage inside the car. A male passenger -- who Alvarado said was a coworker and neighbor from the same jail -- stayed on scene as officers separated the two. After a set of field sobriety tests, Alvarado was placed in handcuffs and charged with DUI and excessive speeding for traveling 100 mph. Testing later showed her blood-alcohol level at more than three times the legal limit. She was transported for a search at the jail. 🌐 More cases: bodycamzero.com This footage was obtained through a public records request and is part of the public record.
