FULL REPORT: On June 12, 2022, CPL Z. BEAM was conducting concentrated patrol in the area of Central Ave at Frosty Ln. While watching traffic BEAM observed a black in color motorcycle traveling North on Central Ave. As the motorcycle passed BEAM observed the tag was bent underneath the back of the motorcycle obstructing it from view. BEAM pulled out behind the motorcycle as the male driver reached back and attempted to pull the license plate from under the motorcycle. CPL BEAM was able to catch up to the motorcycle and initiated a traffic stop as he was turning left onto Wisconsin St. As CPL BEAM activated his emergency lights the suspect immediately accelerated crossing over two speeds bumps. As the motorcycle crossed over the second speed bump the male rider initiated a pursuit by accelerating and running through the stop sign at Wisconsin St at it's intersection with Hancock Rd. CPL BEAM notified dispatch that he was in pursuit of the motorcycle providing them with the suspects clothing description and the pursuits direction of travel. The suspect continued down Hancock Rd at speeds up to 77 MPH, crossing over the center line divider, and traveling down the wrong lane of travel multiple times. The motorcycle neared the intersection of Hancock Rd at Cannon Bridge Rd barely slowing enough to check for traffic when the suspect went through the stop sign off the left side of the roadway. CPL BEAM pulled in behind him as it appeared he was possibly stopping before the suspect drove into on coming traffic and continued to flee south bound on Cannon Bridge Rd. The pursuit continued south on Cannon Bridge Rd before turning South on Old Cleveland Rd. The suspect continued south on Old Cleveland failing to obey the stop sign or other traffic as he crossed over Pea Ridge Rd. The pursuit continued down Old Cleveland Rd at speeds in excess of 100 MPH. Continuing south on Old Cleveland the suspect failed to stop at the intersection of Old Athens Rd or J Warren Rd, disregarding the stops signs and other roadway traffic crossing both intersections at a high rate of speed. The pursuit continued down Old Cleveland crossing over the bridge at GA 365 at 90 MPH. The suspect crossed over the intersection at Wayside St and continued south on N. Main St into Cornelia maintaining speeds of up to 75 MPH in a posted 35 MPH zone. While traveling on N. Main, SGT K. HALL was able to catch up to the pursuit becoming the secondary unit. As the suspect approached the square in Cornelia he made a left onto Clarkesville St traveling back north. SGT HALL attempted to get in front of the suspect in an attempt to box the motorcycle in when the suspect turned right onto Elrod St. SGT HALL then took over the pursuit as the lead vehicle with CPL BEAM becoming the secondary unit. While traveling down Elrod St, the suspect went through stops signs at the intersections of 2nd St and Farlinger St continuing down Elrod. As the pursuit neared the intersection of Elrod St and Chase Rd the suspect attempted to cut through the front yard of 1089 Chase Rd. As he entered the grass the back tire of the motorcycle slide out from under him causing him to drop the bike. Deputies approached the suspect and placed him on the ground, he was secured in handcuffs behind his back, checked for fit and double locked. CPL BEAM assisted the subject to his feet and he was searched incident to arrest. The subject was asked for his name and date of birth when he provided, RANDOLPH GALLOWAY 4/26/1979. While speaking with BEAM, RANDOLPH stated he had tucked the tag under his motorcycle and ran because his licence was suspended and he didn't want to go to jail. SGT HALL noticed some indicators that RANDOLPH was impaired and began speaking with him further. CPL BEAM asked HALL to assist in further investigation for impairment due to his advanced level of training in impaired driving detection. Once SGT HALL was done BEAM escorted RANDOLPH to his patrol vehicle where he was secured in the back seat. RANDOLPH was seat belted in and transported to the Habersham County Detention Center where he was turned over to jail staff without further incident. A back seat check was conducted prior to and after transport revealing no illegal contraband. List wrecker was contacted for the motorcycle and a vehicle inventory was completed. DEPUTY J. MCCLAIN stood by until it was turned over to Ramey's Towing. A warrant was taken for Fleeing and Attempting to Elude (F)
