On July 6, 2023. An officer from the Menomonee Falls police department stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected the odor of marijuana from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed a loaded handgun on the floorboard. The passenger was searched and was found to have marijuana in their pants pocket and admitted to ownership of the handgun. Neither the driver nor the passenger had a CCW permit. The suspect passenger was arrested and booked on drug and CCW charges and the driver was released from the scene. The suspect posted bond and was released from the police department.
