Full report: On the above date and time while patrolling in the area of Old Dixie Rd near Upper Riverdale Rd, I observed a white Ford Mustang matching the description of a stolen vehicle. I then confirmed the tag on GCIC which the vehicle returned stolen. The vehicle was reported stolen by Atlanta Police Department on 11/16/2024. I also had knowledge that the vehicle fled from Riverdale Police Department approximately 30 minutes prior to me making contact with it. I then followed the vehicle onto I-75 northbound from Old Dixie Rd and activated my emergency lights and sirens. The vehicle immediately increased its speed, initiating a vehicle pursuit. Due to already knowing that the vehicle had previously fled, I attempted to end the pursuit utilizing a precision immobilization technique (PIT). Prior to doing so, I thought of a family that had a loved one killed due to a driver fleeing. I also realized the dangers it posed to myself by attempting to end the pursuit at high speeds. Reminding myself that it was my duty to protect the innocent motorists on the roadway, even if it meant placing myself at great risk of injury or death, I decided to try to end the pursuit utilizing the precision immobilization technique to stop the threat. I positioned my patrol vehicle beside the fleeing vehicle, matched the speed and turned into the vehicle left rear bumper which caused the vehicle to lose control, spin around and crash into the dividing wall. The vehicle then came to a final rest in the number 4 lane of I-75. I then placed the female driver at gunpoint and waited for more units to arrive. Once units arrived, we got the female driver out of the vehicle and placed her into custody. I then placed the driver, who was later identified as Charletta King in the prisoner compartment of my patrol car. Once Georgia State Patrol arrived and completed a crash report, I transported King to Southern Regional Hospital to be medically evaluated and cleared. I then transported King to the Clayton County Jail and released her to jail personnel. The vehicle was impounded to Tara Wrecker. I spoke with the owner of the vehicle who provided video of King stealing his vehicle. I attached the video to this report. I advised the owner where his vehicle is being stored.
