On April 8, 2025, a city worker called 911 after following a pickup that drove through the grass in front of a church, swerved along the bypass and ran up a curb before pulling into a car wash. Deputies found the driver still behind the wheel. Asked how much he'd had to drink, he handed over his bank card – then told them he had court at 1 o'clock. "For what?" "For DWI." After field sobriety tests he was told, "You're under arrest for DWI again. You're not going to make it to court today." A search of his truck turned up two liquor bottles. From the back seat he insisted he was clean and sober, told the deputy he was an important businessman, and asked if he could pay to get out. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and no proof of insurance, and deputies told him his license was already suspended.
