An Alaska Wildlife Trooper was called about a pet dog killing a deer. The Trooper responded to the area and talked to two witnesses and the dog's owner. One witness saw the dog off leash actively attacking the deer and the other put the deer down after it was obvious it would not survive. The owner was cited with taking big game with a dog and she plead guilty in court. She was ordered to pay $670 in fines and restitution. Dogs at large are a big problem in Alaska. Many people get charged with wildlife crimes because they are responsible for their dog's actions. Even if a dog does not kill and animal, it could bring the angry animal back to its unsuspecting owner and cause problems.
