Del Norte County Crescent City California On July 4, 2024, on South Beach a private fireworks show in Crescent City took a dangerous turn when ILLEGAL fireworks misfired, leading to multiple injuries, including a three-year-old boy named William Lupan. A mortar struck young William, causing internal and external burns and even collapsing his lung. His heart stopped for roughly 30 minutes before stabilizing. William’s mother, too, suffered burns from the explosion. She flew with him as he was life flighted from Sutter Coast Hospital to Oregon to a higher level of care. Another child, William’s cousin, also sustained third-degree burns as well as many other as 14 were confirmed injured from the explosion.
