Thirsty girlfriend causes man to make bad decisions... Below is the summary of the incident by Eau Claire PD. On 03/05/2023 at approximately 0008 hours, I was patrolling the Regency Inn. parking lot when I observed a man walking with a long object in his hand. When the male saw my squad car, he seemed to jolt up and continue walking. ARREST OF JASPER HOLMSTROM In the parking lot, I made contact with Jasper Holmstrom who falsely identified himself as Jasper Hulbert. Jasper was holding a light saber. As I tried to complete a records check on the false last name Jasper provided, I saw him inching further back towards the Regency Inn. At one point, Jasper began sprinting back towards the motel in which I exited my squad and a chase ensued. I ran after Jasper through the back of the Regency, into the main lobby and out the front door. At each doorway, Jasper attempted to slow my speed by pushing the door back closed. In the front parking lot as Jasper continued to run, I grasped onto his sweatshirt and guided him to the ground. Jasper ended up laying on his back and I held his hands until other officers arrived. While Jasper was on the ground, I questioned why he ran. Jasper explained how he thought he might have a warrant but was not certain. Jasper also acknowledged how he had provided a false name. After officers arrived, I assisted Jasper to his feet, placed him in two sets of handcuffs for comfort, checked for proper fit and double locked them. A search of Jasper's person yielded two pocket knives. This is important to note given Jasper was on felony probation. I allowed Jasper to smoke a cigarette while I contacted probation who ultimately authorized a hold. Jasper denied medical attention and was allowed to call his girlfriend before being secured in the back of my squad. A short while later, I brought Jasper to jail.
