On January 4, 2024. An officer was at the Marshfield Police Department when he observed a vehicle parked crooked in a parking stall that was designated for Police vehicles only. The officer did not recognize the vehicle to belong to any employees of the Marshfield Police Department, and he approached the vehicle to investigate further. The officer noticed a subject (Marco) slumped over in the driver's seat revving the engine. He knocked on the driver's window to wake him up, when he woke up, he attempted to roll the window down; however, struggled to do so first opening up the rear window. He then attempted for several more seconds before he was finally able to roll the driver's window down. The officer advised that he was making contact with him as he was only partially pulled into a parking stall, which was also designated for Police vehicles. Due to Marco being slumped over the driver's seat and how he was struggling with the window, the officer believed him to be possibly impaired. The officer asked him where he believed he was and he stated he was parked outside of his hotel in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn, and the officer told Marco that he was parked outside of the Marshfield Police Department and the building he believed to be his hotel was actually the Police Department. Officers asked him how much he had to drink and he first stated 6 beers, but then stated 3-4 beers. Marco was directed to exit the vehicle which he did, and officers located a beer in the drivers door as he stepped out. Other empty and full beer cans were located in the back of the vehicle. Marco performed field sobriety tests which he failed, a PBT revealed a .265 BAC. He was transported to the hospital for a blood draw before going to the county jail to get booked. Marco was found guilty for operating with prohibited alcohol concentration (4th). He was sentenced to 8 months in jail, his license got revoked for life and he was ordered to pay $4,200 in fines.
