Man Rips Rear Of Vehicle off During Police Pursuit The pursuit started Thursday afternoon after troopers went to a residence to investigate an unrelated incident the previous night that involved a similar car. Batch, who was not connected to that incident, ran out of the house, got behind the wheel of a white Mercedes and drove away as troopers followed, according to Cannon. After running a red light at Pensacola Boulevard and North W Street, his car collided with an Acura that was turning, according to authorities at the scene. The back half of the Acura, including its rear wheels and trunk, split from the rest of the vehicle’s frame. Batch exited the Mercedes and began to run down Pensacola Boulevard, but he was appended after a K-9 brought him to the ground, troopers said. Cannon said that when Thursday's pursuit began, troopers initially thought they were chasing a suspect from the previous night. Cannon said that on Wednesday night, troopers pulled over a white Mercedes Benz with its headlights turn off at around 6:30 p.m. as it drove out of an apartment complex on Royce Street in Pensacola. When troopers approached the vehicle, the driver "turned the wheel hard and hit the gas," almost hitting one of the troopers, Cannon said. Two troopers pursued the vehicle for 12 minutes before the chase was called off out of concern for public safety, Cannon said. That suspect, who allegedly threw “a few pounds of marijuana” out of the car's window, has not been arrested. The driver of that fled in this video had no warrants, or anything that would warrant a arrest. 5-0 PATROL provides unbiased and authentic footage of incidents captured on body cams.
