7/11/2023 Probable Cause document filed by Trooper Simpson On July 11, 2023, I was driving with my emergency equipment active to an emergency call in towards Miller County. I entered onto U.S. 54 from the Case Road on-ramp and observed a black 2016 Audi A4, bearing expired Missouri temporary registration traveling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. A check of the vehicle's speed indicated it was traveling 126 miles per hour in an area limited to 65. As I approached the vehicle from the rear, with my emergency equipment still active, it suddenly took the Jeffries Road Exit, before making a left turn to continue onto U .S. 54. The vehicle's speed continued to be over 100 miles per hour, and I notified Troop F Communications I was in a pursuit. The Audi passed traffic at speeds over 100 miles per hour. As we approached the Missouri 42 exit, the vehicle quickly took that exit, passing more traffic, before continuing straight through the lights. The Audi passed vehicles on the right as it traveled towards U.S. 54 on the on-ramp from Missouri 42, and continued at speeds greater than 100 miles per hour. As we approached Horseshoe Bend Parkway, the vehicle quickly exited onto it. After making a turn onto northbound Horseshoe Bend Parkway, the Audi passed vehicles at a high rate of speed. The Audi made a left turn onto Route MM, and again accelerated to a high rate of speed, again passing traffic on the two lane highway, without stopping at the toll booth. lt was after this that I terminated my pursuit of the vehicle, due to the increased hazards to the motoring public. At 1417 hours, I observed the vehicle traveling west on Missouri Route TT, near Route F. I initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle at Route F and Route TT, and conducted a felony traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle complied and was apprehended at 1422 hours. I identified the driver as Josiah T. Gulledge, He was his Miranda Warning and I asked him why he did not stop. Gulledge stated he thought he could get away from me. He later said when he saw me with my emergency equipment active, he felt like he was in a video game cut scene from Need for Speed. I asked him the top speed he got to, and he informed me 131 miles per hour. Gulledge was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Camden County Jail. J.C.
