Cleavon White, 47, then called 911 himself and told officers he was on a military mission. Officers found loose ammo on the kitchen counter and a gash in the sofa, and a crisis worker approved a mental health hold. For nearly an hour, three officers and the outreach specialist tried to talk White into going to the hospital. As officers took hold of his arms, White fought them, was taken to the kitchen floor, got his hand on Officer Levi Wilkins's holstered pistol and fired one shot into the floor.
