On October 29, 2022, police were called to a home on Jaguar Drive in Santa Fe, New Mexico. What they discovered inside a detached garage would shock the entire neighborhood — and a mother who had no idea what her daughter was capable of. 21-year-old Grace Jennings had been brutally stabbed multiple times with a 3-foot metal sword, with her injuries consistent with near-decapitation. When police arrived, 19-year-old Kiara McCulley was found outside the garage. Her boyfriend, 25-year-old Isaac Apodaca, had already left the scene and called 911, claiming he had found Kiara standing over the body. What followed was a disturbing investigation involving police body camera footage, interrogations, and a mother learning the horrifying truth about what had happened inside her own garage. In February 2025, Kiara McCulley pleaded guilty to aggravated second-degree murder. She is expected to testify against Isaac Apodaca at trial on July 9, 2026.
