On July 27, 2024, Arkansas State Police Trooper Alexandria Duncan tried to pull over 26-year-old Angel Alvarado on Interstate-49 Near Rogers after he sped past her patrol car at 114 mph. Alvarado showed no intention of stopping, despite Trooper Duncan turning on her emergency lights and sirens. Once he finally halted on the right shoulder, Trooper Duncan asked Alvarado to get out of the car. She noticed him with his hand on the gearshift and prevented him from fleeing by taking the keys and tossing them away from the vehicle. He disregarded her orders to leave the car and fought against her attempts to extract him. When he wouldn't obey, she used her taser. Alvarado managed to grab the taser from her and tossed it onto the interstate. He also repeatedly kicked Trooper Duncan in the head during the altercation. A woman from Rogers, witnessed the altercation and attempted to help Trooper Duncan arrest Alvarado. The Trooper eventually discharged her service weapon, firing one round that wounded Alvarado in the right temple. Alvarado was taken to a Mercy Hospital for treatment and was later released into law enforcement custody. Toxicology reports showed a blood-alcohol level of .16 and the presence of cannabinoids. He was booked into the Benton County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and placed on a hold for Homeland Security Investigation (HSI). Trooper Duncan also received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries incurred during the assault by Alvarado. #police #pursuit #cops
