On September 24, 2025, a California Highway Patrol sergeant assigned to the Santa Rosa Area observed a dark-colored Mercedes-Benz traveling northbound on US-101 in Sonoma County at an estimated 100 mph. The Mercedes was weaving across multiple lanes while passing slower traffic. The sergeant reported obtaining an initial radar reading of 112 mph before attempting an enforcement stop near State Route 116 in Cotati. The driver accelerated after the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights and siren were activated, reaching a radar-confirmed speed of 135 mph. During the pursuit, the Mercedes alternated between shutting off its rear lights, briefly turning off all of its lights and driving with only its front lights activated. After exiting US-101 at Rohnert Park Expressway, the driver allegedly continued westbound while disregarding several red traffic signals. Additional CHP officers joined the pursuit as the Mercedes traveled through streets and parking lots in the Rohnert Park area. The pursuit eventually continued westbound on Wilfred Avenue at approximately 110 mph. The Mercedes crossed the double-yellow lines to pass a truck, failed to stop at another red light and disregarded a stop sign. At the end of Wilfred Avenue, the driver attempted to force the Mercedes through a closed metal gate but was unable to breach it. The driver then exited the vehicle and ran down a dirt road. California Highway Patrol officers pursued the driver on foot as he climbed over two fences and ran through a field. After running approximately one-third of a mile, the driver reportedly surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. The driver was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail on the following charges: 148(A)(1) - Resist / Obstruct / Delay Peace Officer 23103(A) - Reckless Driving-Public Street 2800.2(A - Evasion - Wanton Disregard for Safety California Highway Patrol Officers involved: Sergeant J.
